The Australian personal care powerhouse has produced many cult favorites. I tend to visit their stores whenever I happen to be near one and never leave without some new treats for myself. Let us examine which products are on top of my instant (re)purchase list and should be on yours too. Granted, the personal care brand known for its earthy fragrances, nourishing products and appealing aesthetic is not the cheapest. But from time to time, I do believe it is justifiable to spend a bit extra on some luxurious personal care products. They just give you that little bit extra and provide that boost in the morning or a rewarding shower in the evening which really elevates your normal day-to-day. Without further ado, let me share which products have caught my eye and whether I can recommend you to give them a try too.
ENHANCING SHOWERS – First up are the Aesop products that I have been using in the shower. The ones that caught my attention in the stores are both the Citrus Melange Body Cleanser and the Coriander Seed Body Cleanser. Both of them come with a handy pump if you decide to go for the bigger size, which I would recommend. I enjoy the smell of the citrus version, which smells fresh but not in a cheap, lemon dishwashing soap way, but rather in a warm, inviting and sexy way. The citrus melange version could be an all-season product for me, and is definitely not a ‘summer only’ type of smell. I find that it works just as well after a chilly autumn or winter day. The coriander seed smells more unique and has a vibrant, woody smell. I don’t think I could see me use this during the summer, but it is heavenly whenever it gets colder. If you dim the light in your bathroom (or better yet, just lit the room with candle light only) and use the coriander seed cleanser, it will really feel like a spa experience. Two to three pumps go a long way in my opinion. I also love that your bathroom smells incredible after using either of the two products. The verdict: both are a great addition to your shower routine. Follow up with a moisturizing body cream to lock in that freshness and fragrance.
HYDRATING HERO – In terms of skincare, I find it challenging sometimes to discover which products fit my skin. I would describe my skin type as rather normal, perhaps with a slightly oily T-zone but also prone to dryness in winter. Let’s summarize it as ‘normal’ for the sake of simplicity. Previously, I purchased the Mandarin Facial Hydrating Cream. While it is really nourishing, it did not really sink into my skin that much and instead it felt like I had some sort of foundation glow. Granted, I used it during the peak of summer and might have used too much. Next up, I searched for a quickly absorbing but still very nourishing product at Aesop. I found a perfect product in the Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Hydrator. First points go to its handy pump, which makes it super easy to apply the right amount on your fingers. The cream quickly absorbs into the skin and leaves it looking fresh, hydrated and a bit plump. It really feels like it is feeding my skin with the right nutrition from the moment I apply it. The smell is fantastic too and in true Aesop fashion. While it is certainly more expensive compared to other Aesop moisturizers, I can see its worth. One or two pumps should be sufficient to cover your face and neck. If you got normal to dry skin, I cannot recommend this one enough.
HANDS AND LIPS – I would not be surprised if this category is the most popular in the Aesop product range. Just for the sake of being a pretty gift, the Aesop hand creams are a good choice. Personally, I tend to go for the blue tube, better known as the Reverence Aromatique Hand Balm. From all the Aesop products that I have tried and bought, this one smells really smokey. Not too extreme, but noticeable whenever you smell your hands. Combined with earthy notes that make Aesop so recognizable, it is a beautiful scent. A little goes a long way here and the 75ml tube could last you quite some time. Next up are two products for your lips. They tend to be impulse purchases for me, as they are compact and come in handy at any time. The Cedar & Citrus Lip Salve has a nice taste (sounds a bit weird, doesn’t it) and does nourish your lips. Is it shockingly incredible? I don’t think it is. It does its job but from the products reviewed here, I think you could live without this one. The Protective Lip Balm is a great addition to your purse or bag. It comes in a handy size, looks very pretty and works really well. It comes with SPF30, which is a nice benefit. The lip balm lasts a lifetime. You could literally turn the little wheel on the bottom just the slightest bit to get enough lip balm for your lips. I use it as a finishing product once I am about to leave the house and ready for the day ahead. Personally, I think you cannot go wrong with the lip balm and recommend getting one too.
