When it comes to personal care, haircare is something you should not be stingy on in my opinion. Your hair plays such a big part in how you look and come across and should therefore get all the attention it deserves. For guys, hair can become a sensitive topic as we get older. Some of us are blessed with their genes, others have to perhaps rock shorter hairstyles. Regardless of your hair situation, I believe you should treat your hair with respect and give it some proper attention. I tend to stick to just a few haircare brands which I know will deliver. While more expensive than your typical drugstore shampoo and conditioner, a premium haircare product will last a lot longer since you need less to work into your hair. Also, they are packed with great ingredients (and smell incredible too). Take it from me: investing in some proper haircare is worth it. Let me introduce you to some products from Italian haircare brand Davines which I have been using for years now. Davines has a great range of products for different hair types. The ones I describe below typically work for most guys I believe, but feel free to dive into their product catalogue later to see their full range. Let’s take a look at some products.
One product range from Davines that I have been using rather religiously is the MOMO range. Recognizable by its greenness (both in color and the fact that Davines products are made with 100% clean energy and sustainable packaging), it is a great set of products. I own both the MOMO Shampoo and the MOMO Conditioner, which work well as a set. The MOMO range is for guys who have dry or even extremely dry hair. While I am no hair expert, I think any guy who uses styling products on a daily basis like us Dutchies tends to have rather dry hair. The MOMO range is very nourishing and puts all the necessary nutrition back into your (dry) hair. After washing my hair with just a coin-sized amount of the shampoo, it already feels rather nice. But the conditioner really does a great job finishing the routine. I love working the green conditioner into my hair and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing it out. Afterwards, just blow dry your towel dry hair. the MOMO range smells fresh, clean and fits with what the product is supposed to do: nourish your hair and make it feel hydrated.
Now, the next Davines product is a rather special one. The ENERGIZING Shampoo from the Naturaltech range is for guys who have a sensitive scalp and who might notice some hair loss from time to time. Let’s be real: all guys suffer from some kind of hair loss once they get older. Whether it is very minimal or starts to get visibly noticeable, this shampoo can really help. Just a coin-sized amount here too does the job. My hair literally drinks this shampoo. The smell is interesting, as it smells really invigorating and slightly medicinal even. About the medicinal aspect: it is recommended that you wash your hair twice a week with this shampoo. You shouldn’t wash your hair more than two to three times a week anyway for healthier hair. After using this shampoo for a bit, my hair feels stronger and I do notice less hair loss whenever I wash my hair. My dad got hooked on this one as well, so it is great for all ages. You might want to give this one a try too.
The final Davines product that I got to introduce can be used for your face and body too: the Authentic Replenishing Butter. I got to know this product after I noticed some buzz around it from Japanese beauty and fashion creators. Since then, I have gone through a fair share of jars. The butter smells flowery and clean, perhaps a tad feminine but nothing too extreme. I rub a tiny bit on my palms and work it into my hair as a styling product, after washing and conditioning. My hair can get rather fluffy and this butter helps reduce that fluffiness. Personally, I have only tried it on my face once and it feels okay. I keep my haircare and skincare products separate, but the fact that this butter can be used on your face too demonstrates that it is packed with great ingredients. The butter works for any hair type, so it is a safe blind purchase. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to style their hair in a natural way, without any crazy hold but instead with a nice flow, a bit of shine and a comforting smell.
